Boosting Nutrition with Hemp Seeds


Hemp seeds are considered to be nutritionally complete: they include all of the essential amino acids in an easily digestible form, are an excellent source of polyunsaturated fats, and contain the perfect balance of Omega 3 to Omega 6 fatty acids.

In addition to these benefits, hemp seeds also contain high levels of the following nutrients, to name a few:

  • Potassium

  • Beta-Carotene

  • Calcium

  • Fiber

  • Iron

  • Potassium

  • Phosphorus

  • Riboflavin

  • Niacin

  • Thiamin

Hemp seeds are also rich in antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and are a gluten-free. They have a rich nutty flavor and can easily be added to many foods your children will eat such as the following:

  • Smoothies, Cereals, Yogurts, Trail Mix, Granola, etc.

  • Soups & Salads

  • Baked Goods

  • Sauces, Dressings, Dips, Spreads

  • Meatloaf, Casseroles, Etc.

An additional benefit for your children is that in general, hemp seeds are considered to be safe for those unable to tolerate nuts, gluten, lactose, and sugar, and currently there are no published allergies to foods containing hemp. However, hemp seeds should be gradually introduced to your child’s diet as they may have a laxative effect in larger quantities.

It appears as though hemp seeds are another such “Super Food” that many of us may not be aware of!
